METHODOLOGY

How Onward develops its editorial work.

We value transparent framing, practical detail, and language that does not pressure readers.

Methodology is the set of decisions behind a page: how a subject is scoped, which sources are considered, how uncertainty is described, and how a reader can identify the limits of the material.

Our process

Research

We review relevant public information and identify where evidence or context is limited. Source notes include dates, links, and the reason a reference was considered useful.

Draft

We write for clarity, define unfamiliar terms, and avoid claims that exceed the material. Examples are framed as examples rather than universal instructions.

Review

We check tone, accessibility, dates, and whether readers can understand the practical limits. We also check headings, links, tables, and alternative text.

Publish and revisit

Material changes receive a dated note where useful. A page can be revisited when a source changes, a reader identifies an issue, or the context has moved on.

What we look for in a source

QuestionWhy it mattersEditorial response
Who produced it?Authorship and accountability shape how a claim should be readIdentify the source and avoid borrowed certainty
When was it published?Context and recommendations can change over timeShow a date or review note where relevant
What is the scope?A narrow observation should not become a broad conclusionKeep the language proportional to the material
What remains unknown?Readers need a fair picture of limitationsName uncertainty rather than hiding it
  • Prefer traceable public references over unattributed summaries.
  • Distinguish description, interpretation, and practical suggestion.
  • Use conservative wording when evidence or context is incomplete.

Corrections welcome

Send factual concerns to our editorial desk. We record substantive updates with dates and explain changes when useful.

Include the page address, the passage concerned, and a source or explanation where possible. Reports are normally acknowledged within five business days and assessed within 15 business days.

Editorial limits are part of the method

Onward describes general information for an adult audience. It does not create a personal assessment, and a page should not be read as a substitute for appropriate local guidance. This distinction is repeated because clarity about limits is part of responsible publishing.

“Good editorial work makes its route visible: source, context, wording, review, and correction.”— Onward methodology note, 2026
